Vision Statement

At Caedmon Primary School, we provide excellent Physical Education through high quality teaching and an exceptional curriculum. Children are encouraged to achieve their personal best at all times and are challenged to succeed and excel in Physical Education and school sport. All children have the opportunity to attend a festival or competition to learn new skills, gain experience and compete in sport. Children also compete in the intra-house competitions to build respect, healthy competition, honesty, passion, team work and determination. As a school, we inspire the children to BELIEVE in themselves mentally; BELIEVE in their abilities physically and BELIEVE they can succeed in anything they set their mind too. Mind management and a positive mind set is the key to success, this entails:

PE lessons at Caedmon Primary School are inclusive and progressive to provide the best opportunity for each child to increase their confidence in physical activity. Participating in PE can have a positive influence on a pupil’s personality, character and self-esteem. In addition to this, confidence and communication skills are enhanced along with the ability to collaborate with others effectively. This is in-line with the Caedmon characteristics including: The fundamental skills-based curriculum we implement at Caedmon Primary School allows children to develop essential skills, which will assist them in accessing all different sports rather than just a single activity. Furthermore, this will support children throughout their lifetime of physical activity as these skills are transferable in all aspects of daily life - helping pupils to lead a healthy active lifestyle. Physical Education enhances reflexes, along with the development of fine and gross motor skills, hand/eye co-ordination and good body movements, which in turn improves body posture. Evidence demonstrates that this will support the improvement of handwriting which is a physical skill needing core strength, confidence and concentration. Boosting Brain Power – How activity sparks productivity! Leading by example is very important as it provides all pupils with a positive role model. At Caedmon Primary School, we aim to educate the children on all aspects of leading a healthy active lifestyle with: Not only will the children will be educated on physical activity but also on nutritional values and the importance of looking after their bodies with a healthy nutrition intake. They will learn about macronutrient/micronutrients, sugar consumption and the importance of drinking water. Here at Caedmon Primary School, we will constantly adapt, challenge and stretch our children to meet their needs and help them to be the best they can be in every single thing that they do. We are EXTRAORDINARY! We will SUCCEED! We BELIEVE!
